How Bernanke Deals With The Financial Crisis And The...
First of all, before reading this book, I did some research of Ben Bernanke, who is the writer of this book. Bernanke is not only the former Fed Chairman but also a great and knowledgeable economist. President Obama described him as ââ¬Å"epitome of clamâ⬠. However, his career has huge merit, also has artificial wrong, merit half-and half. The Wall Street Journal commented that after suffering a financial crisis which he has never been through, the Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke lead United States avoid involving into a devastating panic. After five years, he used uncustomary policy to help United States to achieve economic recovery; however, the result is frustrating. He left behind the legacy which mingled with failure, fearless, persistent,â⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦However, Bernanke admonished investors by the book that even though banking regulation and supervision protect investors as always, if some particular events or financial crisis happened, like housing bubble and mortgage markets crisis, either or both of these two system work. The example in the book is booming house prices in 2000s. After the sharply increasing of housing prices, risky mortgage lending likes subprime lending trouble began surfacing in 2006 and 2007. The risky mortgage comes with more demand for housing, which will again push the housing prices higher and higher, reinforcing a vicious cycle. As a result, because of the nominate housing price is much higher than the real price, the careful lenders who have good credit step out the market, the rest of borrowers are subprime lenders, ââ¬Å"some borrowers were defaulting on loan after making only a few, or even no, payments.â⬠(318) In the book, Bernanke conceded that Fed responded the trouble slowly and cautiously. When Board in Washington determined to make supervision of bank more centralized, he still overconfidently believe that Reserve Bank staff were better informed about condition in their districts. Another Berna nkeââ¬â¢s conceit is that the financial regulatory system was not as stable and comprehensive as he thought before the financial crisis. In

Oily skin is caused by over-active seb aceous glands, which produce a substance called sebum, a naturally healthy skin lubricant. When the skin produces excessive sebum, it becomes heavy and thick in texture. Oily skin is typified by shininess, blemishes and pimples. The oily-skin type is not necessarily bad, since such skin is less prone to wrinkling, or other signs of aging because the oil helps to keep needed moisture locked into the epidermis. The natural skin color can be darkened as a result of tanning due to exposure to sunlight. The leading theory is that skin color adapts to intense sunlight irradiation to provide partial protection against the ultraviolet fraction which produces damage and thus mutations in the DNA of the skin cells. Grab recruiters attention with your resume
Grab recruiters attention with your resume When youââ¬â¢re writing your resume, these days there are a number of different audiences to consider. Thereââ¬â¢s the hiring manager. Thereââ¬â¢s the robot resume scanner. And thereââ¬â¢s another person altogether: the recruiter. The recruiter is a bit different because theyââ¬â¢re focused on the bottom line from the start. Where a hiring manager wants to know how youââ¬â¢ll fit in as part of a team, the recruiter often just wants to make sure you meet the most important job description criteria, before passing you up to the next level or down to the reject pile. So how do you get (and keep) the attention of a recruiter? Letââ¬â¢s look at what they look at first on resumes, to figure out how to apply that to your own.The average recruiter spends six to ten seconds looking at a resume initially before deciding whether or not to move on to the next one. So you want to catch attention fast with strong keywords, placed strategically. If they donââ¬â¢t see what th eyââ¬â¢re looking for in their initial quick glance, you likely wonââ¬â¢t stand a chance. According to James Hu, founder and CEO of Jobscan.co, the keyword technique that works for those automated Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) is also effective for human readers as well.As part of that initial scan, recruiters are not looking for long-winded bullets about your third-most important responsibilities and achievements at X Corp. Theyââ¬â¢re looking for elements that stand out: headlines, bolded phrases, years. That means that your resume formatting just became even more important.Your experience bullets are crucial for the deeper read, but when youââ¬â¢re hoping to grab attention right away, make sure youââ¬â¢re putting emphasis on the most important parts: company names, job titles, and the dates you were there. The recruiter is trying to put together an image of you as an applicant based on that quick skim, so the more you highlight the short, punchy, relevant detail s about your experience, the easier you make it for them to see how impressive your work history is.This also means that a killer headline is a great way to maximize your resume for a quick recruiter read. The one-liner that sets your professional narrative should be one of the first thing the recruiter sees, and it should be both succinct and clear. Specificity is your friend here.Good headline: ââ¬Å"Innovative Problem Solver with More Than 5 Yearsââ¬â¢ Experience As a Window Washerâ⬠Bad headline: ââ¬Å"Detail-Oriented Go Getterâ⬠The first headline tells the recruiter two crucial points about your resume: you solve problems, and you have a lot of work experience. The second headline is vague, and has no real substance. The recruiterââ¬â¢s eyes will glaze right over it.Remember: youââ¬â¢ll have time later to wow a reader with your work experience bullet points, or a list of skills that make you perfect for the job. First, though, you need to lean in to human na ture, and understand that short, powerful visual cues are the way to get a recruiterââ¬â¢s attention up front.

Investment opportunities and risks in stock markets Literature review
Investment opportunities and risks in stock markets - Literature review Example With the EPFs emerging as a vital source of capital inflow for the developing countries, an array of issues arises regarding this pattern of investment. It is of prime importance to understand the diversification benefits accruing to an investor from investing in the developing countries and the returns to stocks of these emerging markets. Investors and researchers are concerned about the level of integration of these markets with the financial markets of the industrially advanced countries. Several research works have been conducted in the past to investigate about the process of integration between these markets and to understand the changes appearing in the risk-return features of emerging markets. This helps in the understanding of the individual investorââ¬â¢s reaction to the changes in organization of financial markets and the changes in her behaviour in favourable and unfavourable economic conditions. Sufficient research papers are available, that present their findings rel ated to the developed industrial countries. It has been found that there is a lack in recent researches concerning the stock market scenario and market returns in the emerging economies. This essay focuses on reviewing the existing literature on the risks and benefits accruing from investment activities in the developing economies and comparing it with the risks and benefits associated with investing in the advanced stock markets of the world. The diversification benefits are investigated and the correlation between the advanced and emerging stock markets is studied through this literature review. Review There are several reasons that provoke investors to seek diversified and long-term exposure to the emerging financial markets. Social as well as demographic trends are fundamental to the growth of emerging economies and the development of investment prospects in those markets. Recent researches show that the influence of the financial crisis of the US and the Euro zone has been felt more severely in the developed nations rather than on the developing countries. As a matter of fact, a few emerging financial markets are demonstrating a high degree of stability that is historically associated with the mature economies. This is an outcome of rapid evolution, which shows that the investment conditions are also evolving at a fast pace. Many investors of the developed countries such as the United States consider the emerging economies, like, Brazil, India, Russia and China to offer good investment opportunities. In fact, some other smaller markets, such as, Philippines and Indonesia, are emerging that put forward noteworthy opportunities to equity investors. But while choosing the market in which to invest, the investor require the understanding of the differences and parity among the emerging markets, and must not group them together. The investors have to weigh the currency strength of the country in which they are deciding to invest along with the stability of the countryââ¬â¢s government (TIAA CREF, 2013). Rationale behind investing in developing countries According to Henry and Kannan (2008), two rationales emerge out of conventional theories pertaining to investment in risky assets, such as stocks, in developing countries. UAE's need to have Preparedness and Response Plan for Chemical Essay
UAE's need to have Preparedness and Response Plan for Chemical Terrorism Attacks - Essay Example An individual or state is liable to face criminal charges if found guilty of trying to use toxic substances for malicious gains. Furthermore, the fight against biochemical terrorism has been boosted especially through continued support of the United Nations Organization. Despite the fact that detecting such attacks has proven to be a hard nut to crack, nations cannot just sit back and watch thinking that everything is usual. Prevention is better than cure and so there is a need to categorically shun away from this inhuman act. It is only by coming up with adequate measures in the health sector and the intelligence service too. These are basically substances that are commonly used during military operations to kill or cause adverse injuries due to their physiological effects. Chemical effects range from nerve to blister and chocking effects. Nerve agents are very toxic warfare agents. They came to the existence during World War II. Some of these agents include GA-tabun, GB-sarin GD-soman, GF-cyclosarinand the VX-methylphosphonothoic acid. ââ¬Å"Gâ⬠agents are non-persistent unlike the ââ¬Å"Vâ⬠agents which are persistent (Hamid & Antu, 2006). Most of the ââ¬Å"Gâ⬠agents are blended with other substances to increase their effects hence causing the total amount of the toxic substance concentration into the skin by a bigger percentage. At room temperature, it is believed that the GB is highly volatile as GA though to a lesser extent. However, VX is a non-volatile liquid and; therefore, it is not that harmful as compared to other agents. Nerve agents are colorless and mobile liquids while o thers are characterized with a faint fruity like smell (Falkenrath et al., 1998). Victims who inhale GB and VX die after 15 minutes of absorption. Despite GA being less toxic as compared to GB and VX, its low concentration is more irritating to the eyes; its symptoms are often observed in the skin dosage rather than
